Rosemary presented some interesting facts about Jelly Rolls that she read in the current Classic Sewing magazine eNewletter.
“Carrie Nelson at Moda Fabrics has been quoted as saying that the name Jelly Roll came about as most quilters like sweets and the roll looks a bit like a jelly-roll pastry”.
“The Jelly Roll was introduced in 2006 and shipped to stores in 2007.”
“The Jelly Roll has 40 stripes 2.5 x 42 inches from one fabric range.”
“There are 2.75 yards of fabric in a single Jelly Roll.”
“38 Jelly Rolls laid end to end equal a little more than 1.6 kilometres, so 47,000 Jelly rolls will stretch from” Sydney to Townsville Queensland by road.
“Moda has sold enough Jelly Rolls, laid end to end, to encircle the Earth.”
