October 2016
Cherrybrook Quilters Inc. had a post Exhibition dinner at the West Pennant Hills Sports Club. It was a very enjoyable evening and Judy won the raffle draw and went home with a signed copy of Kathy Doughty’s latest book which she kindly donated.
During the night Cherrybrook Quilters Inc. presented a cheque to Viive for the Bill Walsh Cancer Research Institute.
Margaret hosted an “Afternoon Tea for Jean”.
It was wonderful to see so many Cherrybrook Quilters come together for this event. Des Morton and his family had very generously donated Jean’s stash to be sold with the funds raised being donated to Cherrybrook Quilters Inc. The afternoon started with members reminiscing as they leafed through archival photo albums from Cherrybrook Quilters Inc. Margaret & her team of helpers had spent the past weeks sorting, ironing and packaging fabrics into packs which were laid out for sale. Members & friends eagerly searched for fabrics to complement their own stash.
One thing that everyone agreed upon, Jean certainly had some beautiful fabrics.
And then it was time for afternoon tea. Margaret and her team provided a lovely selection of sandwiches, scones, mini chicken pies, meringues, and chocolate dipped strawberries. Copious amounts of tea (and coffee) were consumed along with much laughter and fellowship. Jean’s daughter, Lyndall, then thanked Margaret for hosting the afternoon tea.
Thank you to all the CQI members who came and joined us this afternoon and who each took home their own special memories of Jean.
