June 2016
It was an enjoyable evening of sewing and talking always a good combination! Rosemary presented the snowflakes bunting project for our exhibition.
Show and Tell
Rosemary’s “I spy” memory Quilt for her husband Tony’s birthday featuring fabric representing all aspects of his life. Every picture tells a story. It was quilted with a rippling water pattern which represents Tony sailing from England.
Suzie showed a beautifully machine embroidered cot quilt and pillow set for the neighbours’ new baby.
Viive presented a long lost treasure made 20 years ago. Another memory quilt this time a school reunion one that resurfaced recently. Photos were sun printed. The back of the quilt was signed by each of the friends.
Judy completed a Kaffe Fasset inspired quilt using his striped fabric. It will be sent overseas as a gift for her nieces wedding.
Julie-Ann showed two felted wool Sue Spargo wall hangings, a Xmas and a bird quilt.
Judith and Jill Rowling have been doing a weaving course and showed samples of their classes. Judith had two magnificent scarves she had completed, one in shadow weave. Very interesting and they have used their time away from us well. Judith also completed a beautiful knitted blanket for her great grand daughter. Jill also had some great news on the birth of her baby alpacas.
Karen handed out the second lot of patterns for the BOM. We had some completed blocks from Fay, Lorraine and Irene. Very commendable and the colour palettes are all varied. The rest of us still have big intentions. Thank you again Karen for putting this together.
The exhibition is fast approaching, only 10 weeks away.
