February 2024
Show and Tell from the holiday break.
Lynne: Informed us of an 88 block I Spy she has working on for her 2 years old Grandson.
Sue P: there is a lot going on in that household! A wedding and a baby a mere 8 days apart and the mother of the baby is in the wedding party. We all hope everything goes according to plan. Mostly importantly Sue has her wedding outfit! Sue will bring the completed baby quilt next month or a photo.
Karen: Showed us a section of her new quilt masterpiece! Really fantastic.
Jill: has been to Victoria House and has completed a small sheep kit. Very cute.
Carmel: Thanked Sue P. for teaching her and Helen the assembly of the receiving blankets for which Sue is famous (in CQI). She had news of her niece that had a 4.6kg baby no stitches! That receiving blanket came in handy. Also Carmel showed her Xmas wool felt ornaments (mittens and stockings). We were impressed by her embroidery skills.
Judith: a Christmas Cruise to NZ, Christmas breakfast cruising Milford Sound and Christmas lunch cruising Doubtful Sound. Only down side was a bout of Covid on her return.
Helen: Her husband has been in and out of hospital after a small stroke so its been a long January with hospital and doctor visits. She loved making the receiving blankets and thanked Sue P again for her help.
Ros: More Covid misery over the break! Christmas family gatherings had to be Postponed until Australia Day. Ros hosted lunch (16) and dinner (14). Ros also showed a fun small wall-hanging in progress. This fabric was called “Quilters Wisdom” and “Quilting Sisters Forever”
She found this fabric and another piece to be used (themed quilting sayings) in a clean-up of her stash. All fun fabric!
Janice: Spoke about the ever-growing family with more babies due!
Dawn: Also has been doing a Marie Condo inspired clean up and feeling good about it! She is excited with her new ducted air conditioning
especially with the weather we have been having.
Jeanette: Sad news of her grandson, Ned succumbing to cancer close to Christmas. She had also been on a Royal Caribbean Pacific Cruise.
Cheridan: has been working on 2 outfits for a 2 year old- one a smocked item which hopefully we will see in a couple of months.
Sue O: 3 community quilts finished. Handed a couple out for binding. Thankyou.
Annie: Some happy and sad news about her sons’ partners grandmother. The Grandma was sick in hospital, near death but recovered enough to attend Xmas celebrations with family. She happily joined in the family affair but soon after succumbed to her fate a month later. She was 102! Annie really enjoyed her time with the lady. Also Annie was a another Covid victim for January!
