The meeting this month was to show our useful, favourite, or interesting sewing or craft item to share with the group.
Sue: A stripper (!)
Kim: “Crinoline lady” re-worked with breast cancer fabric. Was a tea cosy. Also a porcelain doll, gift from a patient.
Lynne: For English paper piecing using a layout board, rotating cutting board and pouches she’s made with clear fronts.
Ros: Showed her finished embroidered felt pear, teacup hat gift from mother and a needle case she made as a child.
Jill: Nan’s doll to whisk away lint. It has a china head and grass skirt.
Judith: Design things, using 4 needles and ball of wool. She showed an example of her shawl. Also a folder containing pencil, ruler, paper with doodles, grid book. She showed an example of needle turn design and loves original designs.
Annie: Chatelaine, tin box containing numerous items of mothers: old scissors, threads etc.
Helen: a first quilt sampler
Dawn: Trip to America in 1988 with Val Moore, Val Richards and others – went to Amish area and all sorts of quilt shops. One lady made Dawn a chatelaine in an Amish style.
This ensued into discussions about quillows, electric blankets, wagga and sewing machine repairs.

Judith: what to do with picture fabric? Snuggle quilts for sitting watching TV, cotton top & polar fleece backing
